About Us
In 1972 Henry Burden and his son in law, Awie Swanepoel, started a steel construction company that was then named Aswanestaal in Moorreesburg. Later in 1979 Eric Burden (Henry’s eldest son) joined the team and by 1986 the company’s name changed to what it is now today, Atlas Steel Buildings. Through the years Atlas Steel has established itself a sound foundation in the steel construction industry of South Africa.
By 2011 both Eric Burden’s sons Henko Burden & Thys-Koch Burden joined the proud family business.
Today Atlas Steel Buildings is known as a company that is serious about getting the job done – a company that combines the best material with the expertise of a solid and reliable work force – from planning to performance we get the job done as fast and efficiently as possible, whether it is a standard steel building or a building intricately planned and custom built for your specifications. We take pride in our work – never skimping on the details that make a building last.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Our draughtsmen work with Tekla Structures, 3D CAD software to ensure every part: from big beams to the smallest bolt and nut is in its place.
Atlas Steel’s facilities consist of 3000m²: that include production space, a painting bay and an additional 3500m² storage yard that can easily can handle/ manufacture 210 ton of structural steel a month! Our workshop competes with the market leaders and make use of:
3 X Overhead Cranes,
A Peddinghaus Angle Line,
2 X CNC saw machines,
Steel Guillotines
Bend and Break for the cutting and bending of box gutters.
Using the latest industry technology and machinery, we’re able to fabricate and manufacture all your construction needs in-house
For delivery, our fleet has 3 horse and trailer combinations each with a Hiab crane to help with off-loading of materials and to assist with rigging of steel. There are also three 8 ton trucks to transport lighter materials. Combine this with our 7 rigging teams, all capable of doing foundations, steel and rigging and cladding and you have a turnkey steel construction supplier in Atlas Steel.
